Project Description

Sunset West Trunk Line Unit 1 Project is an important water system infrastructure investment that will improve reliability in the west Los Angeles area. The trunk line was originally installed in the 1930s and is more than 80 years old. This trunk line is operating past its useful service life and is scheduled for upgrades.

LADWP will replace a 550-foot section of the trunk line with a new 36-inch diameter steel pipeline. The remaining portion of the trunk line will be replaced in the future.

Construction Information

The 550-foot construction route along Sunset Blvd. begins at Marymount High School, approximately 300 feet south of Marymount Place and continues north on Sunset Blvd. to approximately 20 feet east of Udine Way.

For the safety of the crew and the community, a work zone will be established on Sunset Blvd. near Marymount High School and Udine Way. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Marymount High School to Stone Canyon Road/Royce Drive for the duration of the construction project. Please exercise caution when maneuvering around the work zone. Traffic control plans will be implemented per Los Angeles Department of Transportation’s requirements.

Crews will be working Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Extended hours and Saturday work may be required.
