Celebrate Women’s History Month with Us!

Women's History Month

LADWP, along with many other organizations nationwide, is proud to recognize Women’s History Month this March. The over 2,500 women in our workforce make significant contributions every day in a variety of roles, such as Utility Accountants, Steam Plant Assistants, Customer Service Representatives, Instrument Mechanics and more! This month, LADWP will participate in a variety of programming that highlights the contributions and leadership of the women in our workforce.

Women in the Trades Summit

On March 6, 2024 LADWP, in partnership with the Women’s Council and IBEW Local 18, hosted the first-ever Women in the Trades Summit at the JSTI Training Facility in San Fernando. Over 160 of LADWP’s women in the trades attended the event which included remarks by LADWP’s leadership team, presentations led by representatives from IBEW International, the LAFD and more, and breakout sessions focused on networking and career development.
There are currently 2,700 women in LADWP’s workforce of over 12,000, with just 245 of those women holding careers in the trades. The event was a great way to kick-off Women’s History Month and support the Department’s goal of welcoming more women to the trades. We look forward to the continuation of the event next year!

Women’s Nature Walk at Encino Reservoir

This year’s Women’s Nature Walk, LADWP’s 3rd annual women’s walk, took place at the Encino Reservoir for the first time on April 6, 2024. The event was hosted by LADWP’s Women Council, Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Over 175 employees attended with their families. As participants arrived at the reservoir, they had the opportunity to visit vendor booths and fill up their water bottles at LADWP’s water trailer. Gregory Reed, Senior Assistant General Manager of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion welcomed the attendees and kicked off the walk’s activities. The event was also attended by LADWP’s Board of Commissioners, including Board President, Richard Katz, Commissioner Nurit Katz, and Commissioner Mia Lehrer. The walk featured informative signs for wildlife, safety guidelines, and suggested photo moments for the walkers to capture. This year’s walk provided the opportunity to appreciate the women in our workforce and recognize the importance of preserving our natural landscapes.
