Project Background
The Redmont Pump Station and Reservoir is an aging water facility that serves the Sunland/Tujunga area of Los Angeles. LADWP will upgrade the facility through the Redmont Pump Station and Tank (Redmont PST) Project, which will:
- Replace the existing 435,000-gallon Reservoir, originally built in the 1920s, with a new 454,000-gallon steel tank; and,
- Replace the existing Pump Station, built in the 1950s, with a new Pump Station.
The project is an important water infrastructure investment that is needed to improve water reliability and maintain the high quality of LA’s drinking water, while providing a more efficient system to reduce operational and maintenance issues and costs.
Scope of Project
The Redmont PST Project will be constructed within LADWP’s Redmont Pump Station facility located at 10501 Redmont Ave., Sunland. Work will be performed within LADWP’s property limits with minimal impact to the community.
Phase 1 – Pump Station Construction: The existing Pump Station will remain in service while the Reservoir is demolished and new Pump Station is constructed on the Reservoir site.
Phase 2 – Tank Construction: After the new Pump Station is completed, the old Pump Station will be demolished and a new 454,000-gallon steel Tank will be constructed on the old Pump Station site.
