Mission Wells Facility Improvement Project Phase II

The Mission Wells Facility is located in the northeast San Fernando Valley community of Sylmar at 12331 Havana Avenue, Los Angeles, California. The facility draws Sylmar Basin groundwater through a system of production wells, a pump station, a sand-trap tank, and a chlorination station. The project scope includes the installation of three new wells and modification of the existing pump station to increase operational flexibility and capacity.  None of these wells are currently active. One of the three wells is expected to be operational by 2018.

Status

Work on this project is ongoing. LADWP is currently reconstructing the pump station, and installing new electrical equipment and underground power conduits. Once finished, this project will allow LADWP to fully utilize its annual water rights of 3,405 acre-feet in the Sylmar Basin and increase pumping in order to maximize use of 12,000 acre-feet of existing stored water credits.
