Mona Guirguis
Mona Guirguis has been appointed as the Interim Chief Information Technology Officer for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) effective June 23, 2023.
Ms. Guirguis reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and oversees the Information Technology Services (ITS) for LADWP. ITS is committed to providing excellent customer service while managing and securing a complex compute environment.
Ms. Guirguis brings over 30 years of experience in the City of Los Angeles, primarily at LADWP and the Los Angeles World Airports. She has excelled in various roles within the information technology field, leading to her current appointment. Previously, Ms. Guirguis served as Assistant Director of Information Systems, overseeing Network Engineering, Telecommunications and Enterprise Systems. She has successfully implemented multiple systems, implemented Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices and spearheaded the implementation of LADWP’s first cloud solution, IT Service Management. Additionally, she has served as the IT liaison for the Water and Power systems and created a dedicated Geographic Information System (GIS) group to develop GIS and mobile applications.
In her new position, Ms. Guirguis will oversee the infrastructure and backend systems for LADWP, which includes IT/Operational Technology networks, server and storage infrastructure, corporate systems, GIS applications, IT Service Management, enterprise databases, applications/systems development and administration, employee intranet, data center operations, network transport systems, telecommunications and the service desk.
With her extensive knowledge of LADWP's culture, processes and systems, Ms. Guirguis is uniquely qualified for this role. Her familiarity with LADWP's budget, hiring and contracting processes is invaluable in achieving the Department’s goals and objectives.
Ms. Guirguis holds a BS in Mathematics from UCLA and an Executive Master of Leadership from USC.
