The Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Referral Process identifies LADWP customers who may benefit from special assistance or accommodations referred to them by Los Angeles Department on Disability (DOD).
Our PWD Referral Process helps to ensure our customers with disabilities receive equal access to various City programs, services, and activities.
DOD services may include*:
- Housing
- Emergency Shelter
- Emergency Preparedness Support
- Accessible Transportation
- Employment
- Job Training
- Disability Mediation Program (Mediation services to persons with disabilities or those whose conflicts involve a person or persons with disabilities)
- Assistance Completing Discount Applications
- Braille information not related to LADWP services (LADWP provides customers with braille bills)
- Large Print Information not related to LADWP services (LADWP provides customers with Large Print Bills)
- Auxiliary aids and services
- Disability access to city facilities and programs
- Other assistance or accommodations through community services and outreach request.

How does the referral process work?
- Customers with disabilities who are potentially in need are identified by LADWP employees during a call to the Customer Contact Center, a visit to any Customer Service Centers, or through contact with a Field Representative.
- With consent from the customer, we provide the request to the DOD. We will not provide any sensitive and/or confidential information.
- DOD contacts the customer and provides information on the assistance or accommodations requested by the customer or identified as needed by the LADWP employee.
