A Street Damage Restoration Fee (SDRF) ranging from $5.18 to $21.26 per square foot of excavation, depending upon the type and age of the street being excavated, may also apply to your project. If an excavation is to be performed on a street that was paved less than one year prior to excavation, SDRF mandates that the entire street block be resurfaced (could be as much as $212,000!). In addition, if slurry seal was applied to the street within the past two years, a Slurry Seal Damage Restoration Fee (SSDRF) will apply. The SDRF and SSDRF are imposed by the Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Bureau of Engineering (BOE). In an effort to streamline the service installation process, SDRF and SSDRF charges will be collected by the LADWP on behalf of the BOE when you pay for your new water facilities.
